  • WHAT IS THE LKSG?
In the next few years, new laws on due diligence in the supply chain are expected to come into force worldwide, including in the USA and EU. The German Supply Chain Act (LkSG) currently requires companies with headquarters or branches in Germany to identify risks along their supply chains and initiate appropriate measures. The aim is to establish new standards that include minimum requirements with regard to occupational safety, working conditions, human rights, health and the environment.
  • WHAT DOES THE LKSG REQUIRE?
The German LkSG requires companies with more than 3,000 employees (from 2023) or 1,000 employees (from 2024) to review their supply chain with regard to legal and ecological standards. From raw materials to the final product must meet these requirements. Consequences of breach of duty of care Failure to comply with the duty of care can have serious consequences. In addition to loss of reputation, there is a risk of severe fines. Compliance with the LkSG is therefore essential in order to minimize business risks. Affected companies by UN size Large companies: 3,000 or more employees affected (from 2023). Medium-sized companies: 1,000 or more employees (from 2024) also affected. Small companies: Currently not directly affected, but as suppliers to larger companies could be held contractually responsible or be called upon to provide support by major customers
  • WHAT REQUIREMENTS DOES THE LKSG REQUIRE?
Issuing a declaration of principles on respect for human rights Risk analysis to identify human rights and environmental risks Take preventative and remedial measures Documentation and public reporting
  • ARE THERE ANY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SETUP?
There are no major hurdles for the setup. We just need a little information: the list of all suppliers, a desired update frequency in which the data should be updated, a statement about the scope of monitoring (with deep dives and/or LKSG report?) a central contact person.
  • WHAT DOES THE SETUP PROCESS LOOK LIKE?
KICK-OFF: Delivery of information about suppliers, the update frequency and the scope of monitoring by the customer. TOOL LICENSE: Either a license already exists or the corresponding resources are purchased from CURE Intelligence. TECHNICAL SETUP: All suppliers are integrated into the tool in the form of topics / tags / channels etc. and viewed in conjunction with custom filters and exported for testing purposes. The respective Python script is then adapted based on this test data set in order to minimize the occurrence of irrelevant findings. The dashboard is then set up using the filtered data. LkSG REPORT: If an LKSG report is desired, it will be drawn up afterwards.
  • HOW QUICKLY WILL THE SETUP BE IMPLEMENTED?
The duration depends on the number of suppliers and, depending on the scope, can be implemented within 5 working days.
  • HOW DOES THE SYSTEM KEEP CURRENT?
The data in the dashboard is updated at the desired frequency via a corresponding database update. The system as such is kept up to date through regular quality assurance and updates. If new suppliers are to be introduced, they can be included in the monitoring (depending on their number) with a lead time of approx. one week.
